When I read the subtitle of this book, “leaving behind frantic for a simpler, more soulful way of living”, I immediately reacted with a deep from-the-soul sigh and was ready to pack my bags and start the journey! I think often times we are so in the midst of our own feverishly frenzied existence that we don’t even realize how insane life has grown until a title like this slaps us in the face with the reality of our weariness.
Present Over Perfect is a book I would love to tuck in each of your beach bags or back packs (or Kindle), because to me it is just the kid of book that one reads slowly, savoring each story, allowing it to seep deep down inside you and infuse you with the truths therein. Shauna Niequist is one of my favorite authors, and on these pages she reaches out like a friend over coffee, encouraging and giving you a place to breathe and relax. Dear Reader, treat yourself to a book that Amazon describes as:
“A compelling vision for an entirely new way to live: soaked in grace, rest, silence, simplicity, prayer, and connection with the people that matter most to us.”
I first read this book in my car on my Kindle Fire (which reads my non-audio books to me — love it!!!) and then bought the hard copy as well! As I mentioned in a previous post, I’m still a hard-print book lover and sometimes there’s nothing like writing notes in the margins and underlining and highlighting a meaningful passage.
