One of my friends once said, “My idea of camping is the balcony overlooking palm tress at a five-star resort!”

Okayyyyy… not exactly my first thought when someone mentions camping to me!  I love camping – everything from the smell of damp pine needles to birds chirping early in the morning, to marshmallows roasted over a fire as you watch the sun set over a gentle lake breeze.. Ahhhh…

As a health coach and trainer, I love the idea of being able to be outside communing with nature: hiking, fishing, swimming, and all the other fun activities you can enjoy with family, friends or all alone.  You can go “glamping” in a very upscale motor home, or in an old VW Bus (this image is very much like a VW Bus I used to own – and used to take my daughter camping in Maine), and of course just using tents.  Some of my favorite memories are of sitting around a campfire under a starry night sky, playing cards, laughing and telling story after story.  It’s a perfect way to unwind, get away from screens and social media and all things techy and enjoy time with those you love, or as a personal retreat.

I know many clients and friends who enjoy camping as well, so with that in mind I thought I’d devote the next few blog posts about all things camping… some survival tips, healthy camp food recipes, exercises and even a time for you to have a camping “spa to go” kit!  What?  Yes, but you’ll have to stay tuned for that one!

So grab your Coleman burners, get that cooler ready, get everyone packed up and ready and let’s go virtual camping!  🙂
