linda with shakeology in cape mayThis past weekend I had a wonderful time at a women’s retreat in Cape May, NJ.  As I posted on my Facebook page there was so much fabulous and uber-deeeelish food and goodies all over the place seemingly 24/7.  So how did I resist going overboard and adding hundreds and hundreds of fat-laden extra calories to my healthy eating food plan?

Well, I made it a point to get up and take a walk/run along the beach each morning so that I would feel strong mentally as well as physically.  There’s something about achieving a morning goal that sets your day off right, isn’t there?  Then I headed immediately to the shower so that I wouldn’t linger in the kitchen while the bacon sizzled my name and the french toast whispered sweet ooo-la-las in my ear!  The third and final step was to make something so yummy that I would feel as if I were totally treating myself.  Hence, my chocolate orange Shakeology.  It completely satisfied my sweet cravings while providing me with more nutrition-dense fuel than anything else available to me.  A side bonus was that, around 10:30, I wasn’t experiencing a sugar crash, fog brain or wicked case of the “I ate too much” sleepies.  My energy level was up and I was alert and ready for the rest of the day.

CHOCOLATE ORANGE SHAKEOLOGY
1 scoop or individual packet Shakeology chocolate (or chocolate vegan) superfood nutrition
1 cup Orange Juice (you can mix 1/2 OJ and 1/2 water as desired)
2 cups ice cubes
Put everything in your blender (make sure it crushes ice – I used my Vitamix mixer – yes, brought it with me!)
Set on high until ice is completely crushed and smoothie is thick.  Consistency will vary.

Pour into your glass and bottoms up!!  To your health!!
