Advent Devotions – December 22nd

Luke 2:20 “The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.”

Can you imagine having an experience like that, and then going back to your everyday existence? “Mountaintop moments” in life are created to change you, to forever alter your being. You are never the same person as you were before the event’s occurrence. I’m sure you have had life-changing moments happen to you, especially in the past year! They are sometime huge, like graduating from school, getting married (or divorced), having a child, moving, losing a loved one, a career move. But they can also be quiet and small, like a whispered word from someone else, a walk in nature that moves your soul, a moment in which you resolve to change something in your life.  They are just that – a moment – no more than a breath in time that changes the trajectory of your very being… eternally.

Have you ever given your heart to Christ, given Him control of your life, the Lordship? Not just lip service, but truly turned over your life to Him, no holds barred? When you do, it should change your life as much as seeing those angels did the shepherds. You should never be the same again. It might be a radical difference, or just a calm and peace that comes over you and radiates for others to see and wonder what has changed in you.

How has Christ changed your life today?
