Advent Devotion – December 24th

Luke 2:20 “The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.”

God doesn’t lie. His word is true. The Bible records what has been heard and seen, what has happened – just as they (the men who wrote the Bible through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit) had been told to write it. They were simply conduits, vessels, through which the Holy Spirit recorded what the Lord wanted to tell us. We read in

2nd Timothy 3:16-17: “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

John 1:1 says that “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. At Christmas we celebrate when the Word became flesh and dwelt among us (John 1:14). God, vast and glorious and untamable, came down from His throne and became a tiny little baby and grew up in human form, because He loved us.  To live, breathe, and love us while the whole time the shadow of the Cross was before Him.  From before time began, He loved us.  Cradle to Cross to Resurrection to Eternal Glory.

And now, we have His word in Scripture – His love letter to us. Treasure this gift, unwrap your Bible, read it daily, meditate on it and memorize the passages. Make it part of your very being. In this printed word we will find the Word – see and hear it today.
