PUMPKIN – ONE OF NATURE’S SECRET INGREDIENTS TO BEAUTIFUL SKIN

Let’s face it – when you think of pumpkins and faces, your brain is probably conjuring up a plethora of jack-o-lantern faces you’ve seen carved and painted over the years.  However…

Pumpkin is loaded with zin, antioxidants and vitamins, which can help protect your skin from age spots and wrinkles.  Honey seals in the moisture and is naturally antibacterial, which helps to prevent breakouts.  It also is a humectant so it will help retain moisture.  Another hydrating ingredient, egg yolks, also include protein, which is a building block for skin tissue and promotes skin elasticity, and vitamins to help heal and protect skin cells and treat inflammatory.  Avocado oil smooths skin, acts as moisturizer, and has high anti-aging properties and penetrates deep into the skin cells.

Begin with a clean face.  To naturally cleanse and exfoliate your face, begin by taking ½ cup uncooked steel oats and gently massage them over your face and neck.  The oatmeal sooths your skin while mildly removing dirt and old surface cells.   Rinse with warm water.  You’ve now prepped for your facial.

INGREDIENTS
¼ cup canned pumpkin (organic is best)
1 Tablespoon raw honey
1 Tablespoon coconut milk
1 Tablespoon cold-pressed avocado oil
1 egg yolk (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Mix all your ingredients and let them sit for about 30 minutes or so to set up. I usually take a washcloth, soak and wring it out in warm water, then place it over your face for a few moments to open up your pores (and it feels luxurious as well).
  • Pat dry with a soft towel, then pat the freshly made and nutrient-dense pumpkin facial ingredients on your face. Lie back for 15 minutes.  Make it spa-like… put up your feet, place two slices of cool cucumber on your eyes, listen to relaxing music and make it part of your #nuture900 routine.
  • While you probably won’t want this time to end, after the 15 minutes quietly get up, rinse your face off with a clean washcloth, and enjoy the radiance of your skin. If you are about to go to bed, you can even take a drop or two of avocado oil and massage in on your face, neck and chest to work it’s nutrients into your skin as you sleep.
