“And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh:” Ezekiel 11:19 KJV”
Bitterness, pain and unforgiveness encase the heart and hide it from the world. It become impenetratable. Dark. Unyielding. Silent. That’s my heart all too often. Sometimes I wonder if I can truly love at all – I can be so unfeeling, unmoved, calloused. Is the depth of what I believe I should feel so shallow, so molded over by life and sin? So sheathed by my prison of self-made “protection” that I have suffocated and destroyed the ability to feel at all?
This is is especially when I must lift up what little is left and pray, “God I believe this verse, this promise, that You have given me a new heart, soft and warm and beating to the pace of the Holy Spirit’s rhythm. Like the old hymn says, melt me, mold me, fill me, use me – Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on me. Crack open this sinful dungeon and replace its contents. Give me a heart that can breathe and feel and love in ways my old heart could not. Free me that I might live in ways only Your new heart within me could love.“
Only God can give us a heart resurrection. Will you release yours to His today?
