plant seeds with website addyI love morning glories.  They are a bright and beautiful flower with blooms in blues, pinks and purples.  Their delicate vines wind and curl around mailbox posts, fences and trellises.  They start out as tiny black seeds with a shiny hull, then begin their passage to sprouting vines, then produce leaves, and finally burst forth in breathtaking color and beauty.  With proper watering and care, they will flourish and thrive from spring through the first frost, greeting you each morning kissed by the first rays of sunlight,  yet closing and fading by nightfall.  As a gardener I look forward to planting them each year, and as a photographer I anticipate capturing the fruits of my labor through the seasons.  However, did you know that you can’t just toss them into the ground like the magic beans from Jack and the Beanstalk and have a beautiful display the next morning?  Nope!  You need to carefully take each seed, create a nick in the hard outer shell, soak the seeds overnight, and then plant them the following morning.  There’s a bit of prep time to produce the best results.

Okay, Coach Linda, thanks for the gardening tip, but what’s this got to do with health, fitness and life?

morning glory groupWell… creating a bountiful garden of morning glories is much like producing our own personal goals and plans.  You must begin to sow seeds of greatness by first determining your plan, then preparing the soil, and carefully planting each dream with mindfulness and care.  It takes time, patience and a good amount of daily awareness and watchfulness.  The seeds must be watered and fed, and given the best environment in which to grow and blossom.  And let’s not forget pulling out all those distracting and destructive weeds!

It’s only eleven more days until spring officially begins (thank God), the perfect time to begin thinking of the garden that is your life.  How is your health?  What would you like to look like by summer (officially June 20th), 104 days from now?  How would you like to feel?  What would you like to accomplish?  You’ve got a little more than 90 days between the start of spring and the start of summer.  IMAGINE what you could accomplish!  How good would it feel to have a harvest of dreams bursting forth in bloom?  The fragrance of success swirling sweeter than acres of morning glories? The winter is over, and the time is NOW to spring forth into the future of your heart’s design!
