Dear Me…

In a day when there are emails, instant messaging and texts, it’s hard to appreciate the anticipation and delight of a written letter.  For a moment, take it even a step further and imagine what it would be like to receive a letter from the past, written to you… from you!

Unlike keeping a journal that we spoke about in an earlier post, this will be an actual letter that you will write, date, sign and seal, then put somewhere safe until you choose to open it in the future.

Envision you are one year in the future.  You want to share with your 2020 self the goals you have achieved, dreams you have realized, the knowledge that you have learned and experiences you have had in the last year.  Perhaps you will give your current self instructions on how you did it, action items, words of encouragement and advice. Tell her the obstacles you discovered and how you conquered them.  Perhaps things you would have done differently.

However you choose to do it, set aside some time to write it.  You could even give it to a trusted friend and ask her to mail it to you a year from today!  Maybe she can write one as well, and you can hold it for her and both of you could open your letters together next year!

Blessings,

Linda
