Today we’re going to be showing some love to your brilliant, beautiful brain!

I absolutely love when September rolls around and the smell of newly cracked books, paper and freshly sharpened pencils perfumes the air with the anticipation of learning.  It whets my appetite to grab a notebook and get my synapses sparking.

When was the last time you learned something new?  What grabs your attention and makes you want more?  A hobby?  An online workshop?  Maybe you’ve been toying with the idea of going back to school to finish a degree or go for the next level?  Learning options have exploded, and you have almost unlimited possibilities at your fingertips to expand your knowledge base, thereby expanding your world and feeding your soul.  If this concept feels overwhelming, take a baby step by going to a local bookstore (yes, a physical drive over and walk in bookstore), and walk around.  Look at titles.  Treat yourself to a book that speaks to you, or If your budget is tight, go to your local library and borrow a book.  Now relax with your new treasure as deliciously relaxing kickback time just for you.  A 2009 study at the University of Sussex found that reading can reduce stress by up to 68%.*

As you read this, what ideas are surfacing?  I’ll bet you already can thing of at least one topic that is of interest to you where you’d like to go deeper.  So, here’s the challenge – during February, minimally do at least these three first steps:

1. Google information on your topic/area of interest.

2. Research vehicles of learning more – an online class/course, a workshop or evening course at your local high school or community college, or online university.

3. Determine the budget necessary and time commitment.

Congrats – you have just built your foundation.  Equipped with those answers, now determine if you want to take it to the next level of commitment.  If it’s yes, then register and begin.  It’s that hard, and that simple.  But if you want it bad enough, take action.  Someday isn’t on the calendar, Valentine.

The world of wisdom just rang the doorbell… will you answer it?

Blessings,

Linda
